OUR MISSION: |

| Contrary to the age-old show business adage, stars are not born--they are made. Every child dreams of being a star, and most want those dreams to become a reality. At Applause, we believe they can. Our society places unhealthy pressure on children to be the best. From their first T-ball game or ballet class through High School graduation they are judged, graded, ranked and categorized by how he or she “scores” relative to someone else. This is how it is, has been, and no doubt ever will be. Generally, our school systems are geared to show such results. Applause will not change that. What we will strive to change is the individual child’s definition of what it means to be a star. It is not in being first or being the best. It is in being the best that they can be. The training we provide will instill in our students self-confidence, self-assuredness, and self-awareness that will enable them to face the daily peer pressure that tends to diminish those qualities. They will always be faced with questions like "Am I attractive enough?", "Am I talented enough?", "Am I smart enough?" Our program gives them the tools they need to answer "yes" on all counts. We have created an environment that teaches children to build each other up instead of sizing each other up. The Applause studio is a place where children have a sense of inclusion, and are made to feel like they belong. It is a safe harbor where the qualities that are unique in each of our children are celebrated and applauded. They are taught to express appreciation for one another and the characteristics that make each of them special. Applause provides a positive, vibrant, exciting environment that gives children a strong foundation in acting, movement, voice, and performance. Your children will leave each session with the thing that each of us needs, but unfortunately rarely gets--the sound of applause ringing in their ears. |

I just want to say how pleased my family is with Gabrielle’s experience and development as a result of your child-centered program. Gabrielle has, at times, been painfully shy about being on stage or up front. To see her sing a solo, speak, dance and act was truly heart warming. Wow!! We were delighted and amazed! The children’s talents were so well showcased, and each child seemed to be genuinely enjoying herself/himself as they performed for us. I believe the children’s comfort level on stage in front of a live audience reflected their capabilities as well as the talent of your staff in their work with children. My experience with children parallels what your program promotes: the concept that children will rise to their potential and do their best work when given space, support, and materials with which to work. Children are NOT to be underestimated, as is proven at Applause for Kids! We took our daughter to cheerleading camp and people were turning around and asking, "Where did she get all this talent?" We answered, "At Applause for Kids." She shined above all the others and we know it is because of the self-esteem she got from Applause. My daughter Lilia has autism. I registered at Applause with hesitation last fall, since I did not know how she would do in the environment with her sensory disfunction issues. She was even able to get up in front of 30-40 friends and do her solo performance of a song from "Wizard of Oz" at a Christmas gathering.
I am so pleasd with the self-confidence that she has gained during this program. Applause has been a blessing for both of our children. It has helped them build their self-confidence and taught them to work as a group. First camp where Kaitlyn was happy EVERY day! Thankyou!! Wonderful experience! I loved it! What a great way to have children use their creativity! Great job everybody! This week of Camp has been a great family experience. We have been singing and dancing and laughing all week. Blake had his best camp experience ever! It's been tons of fun for him. When I picked him up from camp every afternon, all he could talk about was how he couldn't wait until the next morning when he could go back. The week long summer camp compares to no other. Jennifer and the staff make each child feel so loved and special. It’s obvious how much the teachers love what they are doing and most of all the children. The nurturing environment at Applause has encouraged Claire to be more expressive of her feelings. Applause for Kids is the best thing that ever happened to our children!
Teachers at school have noticed and commented on the difference.
Atlanta is lucky to have Applause and Jennifer & [her staff] are true treasures! |
