Barbara Uterhardt (Lead Teacher / "Wearer of 100 hats") has been acting, directing, and teaching since she graduated from Emory University in 1999. As an actor and director, she has worked on nearly 100 productions with Atlanta theaters such as Actor's Express, ART Station, Aurora Theatre, Jewish Theatre of the South, The Shakespeare Tavern, and Theater Emory. In the media she has been labeled one of Atlanta's Directing Super-stars as well as Creative Loafing's Critic Pick in 2004 for "One of Atlanta's most under-used actors." Barbara has taught theatre to children of all ages as well as adults all around Atlanta and is dedicated to making the Performing Arts an integral part of everyone's life in Atlanta. She is thrilled to be sharing her love for the Arts with Applause...for Kids. |

Lily Yancey Miller (Teacher & Office Manager / "The Organizer") began her professional acting career when she was eleven years old. As a child performer, she appeared in The Crucible, Night Sky, E/R (the play), The War Brides and as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker. She is a native Atlantan and returned to her hometown after graduating with a BFA in acting from Florida State University in 2000. Since then, she’s worked with The Shakespeare Tavern, 7 Stages, Theatre Gael, Theatre In The Square, Soul-stice Repertory, Synchronicity Performance Group, The Center For Puppetry Arts, NOVA Performance Company, Spontaneous Stage and Working Title Playwrights. Lily is known around town as an accomplished actor, director, producer, singer and musician. |

| Mira Hirsch (Teacher /"The New Kid on the Block") as had the honor and privilege of working with a number of Atlanta’s professional theater companies – such as the Academy Theatre, Theater Emory, Theatrical Outfit and Theatre in the Square – as an actor, director, teacher and administrator. In 1995, she founded her own theater company, Jewish Theatre of the South, and served as its Artistic Director for the whole of its 13 seasons – overseeing the production of numerous plays and outreach programs. An almost-Atlanta-native, she holds a degree in theater from the University of Denver. Mira has directed numerous summer theater camps over the years, and is thrilled to now be spending her first summer with her friends at Applause this year! | ![]() |

Sims Lamason (Teacher & Lead Choreographer / "Woman of Steel") grew up outside Washington D.C. and performed in regional productions as a child. She most recently worked for a year in the cast at Sight And Sound Theaters in Lancaster, PA before moving to Atlanta to pursue more performance opportunities. Sims majored in music focusing on music theory and vocal performance with a minor in theatre at the College of William and Mary (Williamsburg). She is an experienced musical director, choreographer, arranger of music, singer, actor, and dancer. She is elated to be joining the theatre community of Atlanta and the Applause…For Kids staff. | |||||||||||||||||
What do our teachers do outside of Applause? Our staff of talented teachers are also peformers, directors, and designers. Barbara Uterhardt is currently directing Perfect Arrangement with The Process Theatre. In the last year, she directed A Lesson Before Dying at OnStage Atlanta, Bus Stop at Stage Door Players, Hula-hoopin' Hannah and her Hanukkah Adventure at Jewish Theatre of the South, and starred in Turn of the Screw at OnStage Atlanta and Annie, Get Your Gun at The Aurora Theatre. She was just interviewed for Creative Loafing. Lily Yancey Miller will be in the upcoming Perfect Arrangement with The Process Theatre and most recently played Cressida in William Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida at the Shakespeare Tavern. Lily recently directed the staged reading of The Education of Benjamin First for Working Title Playwrights. Mira Hirsch recently starred in the critically acclaimed Hard Love at Jewish Theatre of the South. She is currently producing Jewish Theatre of the South's final production, The Last Schwartz. Sims Lamason was recently in Annie, Get Your Gun at The Aurora Theatre and Peter Pan at The Atlanta Lyric. Up next, she will reprise her role as Hape Cladwell in a remount of the popular Urinetown at OnStage Atlanta. She has also choreographed Dreamgirls at Galaxy Music Theatre.
