If one person can make a difference, Jennifer Salberg is a good example. Seeing the lack of cultural enrichment available for children today, this mother of two did something about it. Together with her husband, Larry, she launched Applause...For Kids, a performing arts school offering a creative outlet for self expression. Her timing was perfect. In two years, the program has grown from six students to over 200 families, with a new location in Chastain Square Shopping Center at 4279 Roswell Road and a studio annex and stage at 4367 Roswell Road in Atlanta. "The vision I had was a cross between Willie Wonka's chocolate factory meets Mary Poppins," said Salberg, an accomplished actress and comedienne who relocated with her family from New York to Atlanta in the mid 90's. She wanted to create a fun, safe place where acting wasn't the means to an end, but a means in itself--a tool to boost confidence, encourage individuality and fuel the imagination. Fellow parents have given Applause...For Kids a standing ovation. "Miraculous transformation in my child," one mother wrote. "Boosted her self esteem," noted another. "Built confidence and compassion," another proud parent penned.
